Description

UV lamps, UV light, UV bulbs, or UV ovens are commonly used for disinfection purposes in hospitals, such as in operating rooms that require high cleanliness and sterility, or in industrial facilities, among others.

Certainly, UV light is capable of killing various pathogens and viruses, including COVID-19, also known as the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which is currently heavily prevalent. This virus belongs to the coronavirus family, and experiments have been conducted using coronaviruses with UV light, concluding that if the UV radiation has the appropriate intensity, it can effectively kill up to 99.99% of the pathogens in a suitable time frame. The effectiveness depends on the strength or intensity of the UV-C light, which may require durations ranging from 10 to 30 minutes for milder UV doses or as little as 5 minutes for stronger UV-C radiation. Even though the tested viruses may not be the SARS-CoV-2 strain specifically, they share similar structures with coronaviruses. Thus, it can be concluded that UV light can indeed kill COVID-19.

  • We use a combination of UV radiation and ozone gas to disinfect water in swimming pools instead of chlorine, which is safer for swimmers and skin as it doesn’t leave behind harmful chemical residues dangerous to humans. There are two types of UV radiation in our system: UV 185 nanometers and UV 254 nanometers.
  • UV 185 nanometers eliminate all organic matter (TOC reduction) and reduce algae production.
  • UV 254 nanometers kill bacteria, viruses, and fungi without the need for any chemical additives.
  • Ozone gas is mixed with water in the pool using a Venturi to oxidize all pollutants in the water and kill bacteria, viruses, fungi, and reduce algae.
  • UV radiation does not leave any residues in the pool after passing through the UV sterilizer, but ozone dissolved in the water remains in the pool for 15-40 minutes depending on the water temperature (cool water will prolong ozone dissolution). Therefore, in colder temperatures (below 20 degrees Celsius) without direct sunlight -> no need for Algaecide.
  • However, in hot seasons and direct sunlight, algae may accumulate (since ozone dissolves in water only for 15-40 minutes), so it is highly recommended to mix copper sulfate solution at a concentration of 0.5 grams per 1,000 liters per week to prevent algae growth.

UV radiation at a wavelength of 254 nanometers (nm) is highly efficient in killing bacteria such as airborne and waterborne bacteria, viruses, yeast, and fungi. UV germicidal lamps are widely used in air and water purification systems in the food and beverage industry, including purified drinking water applications and medical settings for air disinfection in hospital wards. Furthermore, the germicidal properties of UV radiation at a wavelength of 254 nm can also be used to destroy ozone to reduce ozone levels in water or ozone dispersed in the air.

All our UV-C systems, which maximize UV radiation output at 254nm, eliminate and address health-related issues caused by chlorine reactions, such as when free chlorine reacts with organic substances like sweat and urine in the body. However, our OUV system differs from conventional UV-C systems. Our OUV system has multiple colors and a wider UVC output at both 185nm and 254nm. This broader UVC output can eradicate all types of chlorine (mono-, di-, and trichloramines).
